Travel by coach from Queenstown along the beautiful highway to the serene hamlet of Glenorchy at the northern-most tip of Lake Wakatipu. Here you will begin your scenic jet boat ride along the remote Dart River valley, set between the bush clad and snow-capped mountains of Mount Aspiring National Park. The Dart River bowl is an area of great beauty and Lord of the Rings fans may recognise it as the setting for Isengard in Peter Jackson’s trilogy, with Mt Earnslaw in the background providing a magnificent backdrop.
From here you will be taken on a gentle guided walk on which you will learn a great deal about the area and its history, as this is a region where pounamu (greenstone) was highly sought after by early Maori. After your 30 minute guided walk through the ancient forests in this unique World Heritage area you will travel by coach along back roads to aptly named Paradise, the area used to film both the Elvish woods of Lothlorien, and Amon Hen – the site of the last great battle in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings. From here your luxury coach will return you to Queenstown along the shores of the Lake Wakatipu. You can add your own review for this experience
