The ruins of Chichin Itza are steeped in a magical history of bloody rituals of human sacrifice, a warrior culture, astrological discovery, and elaborately constructed Maya-Toltec buildings. Sites visited on the tour include the Majestic Observatory, the Sacred Cenote - Where sacrifices once took place and the Ball Court where the Mayans played the largest and deadliest ball game in Mesoamerica. The arena is 168 meters in length and 70 meters in width with perfect acoustics. Your guided visit finishes with amazing Pyramid of Kukulcan.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. You'll have the opportunity to visit an underwater grotto and admire its beauty and unique formation. Here, you can swim in the pure, crystal clear water and enjoy the beautiful nature. Alternatively you can return to the ruins and explore further at your own pace.
Re-group in the early evening for the magnificent Light and Sound Show. The spectacle brings the archaeological elements of these fascinating Mayan buildings to life, creating an outstanding night time experience at the ruins. Watch as a serpent descends out of nowhere down to the ground (equinox show), Mayan warriors play the Mesoamerican infamous ball game, and all the sounds of life and death blaze through the ancient city. This might be your most exciting history lesson yet.
