Guided tour of Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest
Travel 180kms southeast of Munich to the German/Austrian border where you will find Berchtesgaden, a Municipality that was formerly the southern headquarters of the Nazi party. The most notable peak in the region is Mt Kehlstein which is home to Eagle’s Nest – a lodge that is perched 1,834 meters high and offering Germany’s most spectacular views of the Alps.
Once we reach the top of Obersalzberg mountain, you have the oppurtunity to visit the NS-Documentaion Center. A special bus and an elevator tunneled straight through the rock bring you to the Eagle's Nest, a high command post built by the Nazi party for Hitler's 50th birthday.
In the event of bad weather conditions such as ice, snow or fog, the tour will take you to the famous Berchtesgaden salt mine instead.

Casual. Dress according to the weather for that day.
Access to Eagle’s Nest is only possible between mid-May and mid-October. Outside these times or if access is restricted due to inclement weather you will instead visit the world famous Salt Mines. Wearing traditional mining gear you will descend into the depths of the mine where you can see glowing salt grottoes and a subterranean salt lake.
