Explore the amazing Bay of Islands and swim with the playful Bottlenose dolphins that call its warm waters home on this fun packed boat cruise.
The beautiful Bay of Islands has some of the warmest waters in New Zealand, and is thus home to dolphins year round. Your water jet powered boat will take you racing through the Bay of Islands from Paihia or Russell in search of the pods of friendly Bottlenose dolphins which live in the area. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of Common and Dusky dolphins.
Once your expert local crew have located the playful dolphins you will get a chance to get up close to these acrobatic creatures as they play around the boat, as eager to learn about you, as you are to learn about them. If conditions are favourable you will get the opportunity to swim with the dolphins who are never too shy to get up close and investigate newcomers.
After your dolphin encounter your boat will travel on to Otehei Bay on picturesque Urupukapuka Island. Here you can have a hot shower and enjoy a drink at the charming cafe, then relax at the beach, take a stroll on one of the coastal walks, or browse the Maori Arts and Crafts Centre. An abundance of other wildlife can be seen on your return journey including orcas, whales, seals, and penguins making this a truly exceptional experience for everyone.

Don't forget to bring your swimming costume, towel, sunglasses, sunblock, and of course your camera.
Those wishing to extend their stay on the island can do so and will return to Paihia at 5.30pm.
Swimming with dolphins can only happen in the correct conditions. Your captain will make this decision and there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to get into the water.
We recommend that you wear your swimming costume under your clothing where possible for ease of changing.
