Your tour departs from Alice Springs, heading south on the Stuart Highway as the sun rises. Your first stop is at Jim's Place, Stuart's Well where you can enjoy breakfast at a typical outback roadside stop. You will begin to sense the vast openness of the Australian Outback as you travel across the endless plains of the outback and continue on through Erldunda and Mt Ebenezer. Enjoy Billy Tea and a Lamington while admiring the amazing views of Mt Connor Mesa. Your tour continues to the desert tourist resort town of Yulara for a short stop before you reach your destination, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
Renowned worldwide as a symbol of Australia and the mystery of the outback, Uluru has stood here since the dawn of time. Rising 348m above the surrounding flat expanse of desert, Uluru is at the centre of an area of deep cultural significance to the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land, the Anangu.
The Uluru and Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre is a great place to learn about the area and Aboriginal Tjukurpa - Aboriginal law, religion, arts and custom. Discover Aboriginal rock art on the guided walk to Mutitjula Waterhole and the Mala Walk, then enjoy a complete circuit around the base of Uluru learning more about the area's geology and Aboriginal legends and Tjukurpa from your guide.
30km away to the west lies Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), a striking, tumbling mass of rock domes reaching 546m, which many find as entrancing as Uluru. Here you will traverse the Walpa Gorge, a pretty valley of cool valleys and quiet waterholes which is beautiful as the afternoon sun floods the gorge.
To top off your day, watch the ochre brown of Uluru change to glistening orange and then deeper reds as the sun sets while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine or juice with your buffet dinner. Then enjoy an on board viewing of an Australian movie as you return to Alice Springs.
