This exhilarating 4x4 tour combines two starkly contrasting landscapes; the golden Arabian desert and the magnificent Hajar mountains. Your day starts with an exciting drive across the towering red sand dunes as you head to the western Hajjar mountains. Follow off road tracks through winding gorges as you head into the mountains past wadis, village settlements and lush green oases. There is the chance of a refreshing swim in one of the crystal clear mountain pools before you continue to ancient fortress village of Hatta. See the 16th century fortress and heritage clay village before enjoying lunch at the Hatta Fort Hotel.
After this relaxing respite, descend out of the mountains and head into the golden desert for an exhilarating roller-coaster drive across the the golden dunes. Accelerate up the giant sand dunes and plunge over blind precipices for the ultimate thrill. Afterwards, you climb to the top of the largest dune to watch the sun set over this glorious landscape.
Continue to a Bedouin campsite situated in the heart of the desert where you will be served a delicious barbecue dinner in authentic tents where you’ll sit on embroided cushions and traditional Arabic carpets. It is a time-honoured Arabic tradition to smoke a water pipe called Narhileh or ‘hubbly bubbly’ and there is also the chance to try a camel ride. The 4x4 vehicles used are air-conditioned and carry a maximum capacity of 6 passengers plus driver. All drivers are qualified off-road professionals; first-aid trained and carry mobile phones. All vehicles are equipped with seat-belts and passengers are required to wear them at all times.
This safari trip takes you through rugged routes intended to create an adventurous and exciting experience. Therefore, children under the age of three years old are not permitted. It is also not recommended to people suffering with heart conditions and back/neck problems.
