Overview

Lantau Island is almost twice the size of Hong Kong Island. Yet only 88,000 people live there (compared to Hong Kong’s 1.5 million) and more than half the surface of the island is a designated country park. Archaeologists believe that the island has been inhabited for 3000 years - well before the arrival of the Han Chinese.

Upon arrival in Lantau, you are met by a local guide and taken to the first stop on the tour. The Avenue of Stars honours those movie stars to have dedicated to themselves towards Hong Kong movie industry. Visitors can walk amongst the stars on the walk of fame. The avenue also feature sculptures, movie industry milestones, and incredible views of Hong Kong's famous skyline and more.

Continue to the Ngong Ping Cable Car which connects Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. The 5.7km cable car journey offers visitors spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau North Country Park and the Giant Buddha.

Afterwards, you are taken to view Tai O fishing village. Known as the " Venice of the East " Tai O was once the largest inhabited settlement on Lantau Island. The village's stilt houses on the waterfront, offer a glimpse into Hong Kong's past and provide a striking contrast with the modern city.

Continue to Po Lin Monastery, known as the 'Buddhist Kingdom in the South' and the most popular Buddhist temple in Hong Kong. Here you can view the largest outdoor bronze seated Buddha in the world, a truly awesome spectacle.

Po Lin Monastery is famous for providing high quality Buddhist vegetarian cuisine in Hong Kong and you will be served a six-course traditional Chinese vegetarian lunch before you return to Hong Kong Island by ferry.
