The comfortable boats operate along three routes, taking you to the best known landmarks and attractions including the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House and Rembrandt House. There are fourteen stops around the city and you can hop on and hop off the Canal bus at any of these stops for the duration of your ticket. Spend as much time as you wish to explore, sightsee or shop before boarding the next boat to continue your cruise. During the winter season the boats depart approximately every 40 minutes and during the summer boats depart every 20 minutes. Head out of Amsterdam and explore typical Dutch countryside on this charming half day tour. See locals in colourful dress, visit the famous windmill village of Zaanse Schans and learn about traditional clog and cheese making techniques.
<span>Your day starts with a scenic drive through the Dutch countryside characterised by polders and little canals as you head to the Zaanse Schans village, famous for its collection of wooden windmills. The windmills are all still in use and offer a glimpse of Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries when thousands of windmills were lined along the dykes and powered the Dutch economy. Here you have a chance to explore one of the mills that still perform various functions including a saw mill, a paint mill (grinding pigments), and oil mill (grinding linseed or peanuts to draw off the oil). You will also get the chance to visit a wooden shoemaker to learn how clogs are made. </span><span> </span><span>Afterwards, the tour continues to the renowned fishing villages of Volendam and Marken, where you can see traditional Dutch wooden houses and locals still wear traditional colourful dress. A twenty minute boat trip takes you between the two villages and there is around 45 minutes free time in both Volendam and Marken allowing you to explore and shop. Your return journey to Amsterdam takes you to a cheese farm where cheese is still made using traditional techniques.<span> </span></span>

This charming tour to historical Alkmaar offers a fascinating glimpse of old Dutch Market life. Visit the traditional cheese market before heading to Schermerhorn to see her famous old windmills and medieval Edam, world renowned for its wonderful cheese.
<span>Your day starts with a short drive to Alkmaar, where you visit the historic cheese market. You can get a real sense of ancient market life as you watch the cheese carriers in their traditional dress piling their wheels of cheese on the cobblestone square at Alkmaar Market. The bidding process still follows old tradition with hand clapping followed by a stern clap the deal is sealed. Once the buyer is successful, the cheese is taken to a 14th century Weigh House to tally the bill. </span><span> </span><span>After exploring the market, the tour heads to the village Schermerhorn with its famous old windmills. These amazing structures date from the 17th Century and are part of a series of windmills, set at different elevations, which drained the land of water. Your return journey to Amsterdam takes you to the medieval village of Edam to visit a cheese factory where this world famous cheese is still made using traditional techniques. </span>

There is no better way to explore Amsterdam than by bike and the great thing about a self-guided tour is that you travel at your own pace and visit those attractions that interest you the most. There is a wide range of bikes to choose from and the friendly English-speaking staff will give you tips on what to see and where to go. On arrival in Pijp, take a break from the bike and join a relaxing canal cruise. The hour long journey takes you along the waterways and through the old harbour, passing 17th century merchant houses, with their beautiful fronts, churches with bell towers. </p><p>Your experience also includes fast-track ticket to the Van Gogh Museum which allows you to skip the lines! The museum houses the largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh and is open daily from 10.00am to 6.00pm. And don’t worry if you do not wish to visit the museum on the same day as your bike ride and canal cruise, your Van Gogh Museum ticket is flexible and you're welcome to redeem any day throughout your stay in Amsterdam. </p><p><strong>PLEASE NOTE:</strong> Between 13 February and 7 June, the Van Gogh Museum element of the tour will be replaced with the <span lang="EN-GB">Heineken Experience due to a special exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum.
